New Massachusetts Move Over Law

Effective March 22, the new Move Over Law is in effect in Massachusetts. The law requires all drivers approaching a
stationary emergency or maintenance vehicle with flashing lights to move to the
next adjacent lane if it is safe to do so, and, barring that, to reduce their
speed. Drivers who violate the Move Over Law face a fine of up to $100.
The new law was created in response to the numerous injuries sustained recently by state troopers on Massachusetts highways. I would have to say that this is certainly one of the more common sense laws that should save lives. And that's your risk management tip of the day!
