Liberty Mutual Goes Brokerage

Back in January, Liberty Mutual announced that it was dropping the Wausau brand and selling off its middle market business to three national brokers.  The interesting part of the news is that Liberty is now going to a brokerage model for middle and national accounts, with the small business sector being covered by their subsidiary Peerless Insurance Co.

In the past, Liberty had been a direct writer, meaning that they employed their own sales force, and for the most part did not allow brokered business from independant agents and brokers.  We have been appointed as one of their brokers, and we are looking forward to working with them.  When competing with them in the past when they were still a direct writer, there were many times that they were the most competitive and had good terms and conditions, so we are happy to have them on our side now!
